Section steel Q355C belongs to low alloy high strength structural steel, has good welding performance and low temperature impact performance, widely used in water conservancy and hydropower, Bridges, oil platforms and other key structural engineering projects, has a high use value and broad market prospects. Because Q355C steel has strict requirements on C, Si, Mn, S, P and other components, and extremely strict requirements on inclusion control, most production plants adopt the "converter + refining" mode when smelting Q355C steel. The technical department of the company cooperated with all units to break the technical bottleneck and jointly developed the control process of section steel Q355C without refining.

Strong product performance must rely on strong manufacturing ability. Section steel Q355C adopts niobium microalloying, which requires high rolling process and low temperature rolling, not only requires high equipment precision, but also needs high process adjustment skills, which is a big test for the production link. Based on the actual production, the technical research team decided to reduce the temperature of the soaking section of the heating furnace by about 50℃ on the basis of Q355B, and reduce the opening and finishing rolling temperature by about 80℃ on the basis of Q355B. The engineers of the technical Department guide and track the whole test rolling process to ensure the stability of the whole process control. Meanwhile, the technicians of the Quality Measurement Department strictly follow the standard sampling and sample preparation, which provides a strong test data support for the test.

During the whole development process of section steel Q355C, the leaders of the technical department and the technical backbone of the company conducted in-depth on-site tracking and guidance. Through repeated trials and continuous accumulation of experience, the composition of section steel Q355C met the design requirements, and the inclusion was controlled below level 2.5, and the billet quality was greatly improved.
